Act now if you want to measure wind speed
Posted by Cathy Debenham on 29 October 2009 at 11:45 am
Measuring the wind speed on your potential site is the only sure fire way of knowing how good an investment a wind turbine will be as regular readers of the YouGen renewable energy blog will know.
Until recently this wasn't either cheap or easy, but that changed earlier this year with the launch of the Power Predictor. Now you can measure the wind speed, upload data to your computer and see, turbine by turbine, how much electricity you can generate, what it would cost, and how soon it would pay back.
The launch price was a great value £99.95, and from Sunday 1 November it's going up to £149.50. While this is still good value, if you move fast, you can still order one at the launch price.
And if you get measuring now, and the wind speed is good, you may still have time to apply for a grant prior to April's introduction of the feed-in tariff.
