Grants will be available for renewable heat as interim measure
Posted by Cathy Debenham on 11 March 2011 at 10:57 am
Domestic installations of renewable heat will be eligible for a grant, while we wait for the full renewable heat incentive scheme to be introduced in October 2012.
From July 2011 RHI Premium Payments will be available. These will be a one-off payment to help with installation costs - essentially a grant in all but name. Eligible installations will also get the heat incentive payments from October 2012.
The payment rates are expected to be:
Solar Thermal - £300/unit
Air Source Heat Pumps - £850/unit
Biomass boilers - £950/unit
Ground Source Heat Pumps - £1250/unit
Confirmation of the RHI premium payment rates is expected in May 2011.

It's still all a bit hazy, as we won't get full details until May. My understanding is that it's an incentive for new domestic installations starting in July. So it definitely won't be available to people who've already installed.

Cathy, Is THE RHI Prem payments available for customers who have ALREADY installed systems? Or for new customers...starting when???
