Reader tip of the month - turn it off!

Posted by Cathy Debenham on 27 September 2012 at 4:22 pm

We talk about technology a lot on the website, but technology by itself is not enough - it's the user that makes the most difference. It's no good having the most efficient boiler, if you turn the thermostat up high, and then open the windows when it gets too hot.

User-behaviour was the theme of September's tip of month from RHepcman, a domestic energy assessor, who is currently training to be a green deal advisor. He says: "If it isn't in use switch it off! The main element of saving energy comes down to education of users, the products can be made as 'A' rated as possible but until people actually think about how they are using energy we will not achieve the savings necessary."
