Green Deal Home Improvement Fund runs out again!

Posted by NEF Gordon on 27 March 2015 at 5:55 pm

The latest release of Government money to fund home improvements via the Green Deal has once again run out of money.  The finance is released on a quarterly basis with this release of £70million opening on 16 March 2015.

Whilst this is a great display of how popular the scheme is, it is also a clear indication that there are many many homes out there which need to be improved.

The concern now is that the industry seems to be becoming dependent on these grants to grow.  However, the Feed in Tariff generated so many installations of Photovoltaic panels that the industry itself was able to ramp up, and costs came down commensurately.

We are yet to see similar costs reductions in the Solid Wall Insulation industry, but hopefully this funding, and that from other pots will enable the number of installations to grow significantly.  Growth in the industry should then lead to investment in training that the industry needs.

See our 5 March blog for more on the Green Deal Home Improvement fund.
