DECC launch renewable heat incentive calculator

The Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) has just launched a new renewable heat incentive calculator. It is designed to give you an idea of how much you could get in RHI payments if you were to install a renewable heating system.
This applies to solar thermal (for hot water) air and ground sourced heat pumps and biomass boilers. If you have a recent EPC it says it can give you more accurate information, if not you will get an estimate. However, please do remember that this is always an estimate as you may choose a differently sized system.
Once the calculation has been made you can go in and change some of the information, such as amending the floor area. Some technologies ask for more information on your family as well as your house. For instance for solar thermal you are asked how many people are living in the home and what kind of showers you have (interestingly, it didn’t ask how many baths I take??)
This new tool works for Scotland as well as England and Wales.
Try out the renewable heat incentive calculator here.
