Election update - energy efficiency off the media radar?

Posted by Gabby Mallett on 20 April 2015 at 3:30 pm

How are the political parties going to promote energy efficiency, alleviate fuel poverty or increase renewable energy generation?  Are you interested in finding out before you vote on 7th May?

What do you think about the Green party’s commitment to a nationwide retrofit insulation programme? See the UKGBC’s take on it [1].  UKGBC has provided a précis of the manifesto commitments of the major parties [2].

Cooperatives UK have done a quick analysis of what each of the manifestos would mean for them [3].

However the BBC’s recent assessment of the manifestos and how they deal with the major political issues doesn’t even consider our need to renovate homes as one of the ‘key issues’.  Housing gets a quick mention, but there’s nothing about insulation, fuel poverty or renewables [4].

Greenpeace have also done some analysis of the party manifestos and major commitments - see Lib Dems [5] UKIP [6] Conservatives [7] Greens [8] Labour [9].
