Industry restates need for a new Energy White Paper

The recent progress report by the Committee on Climate Change (CCC) has strongly recommended the need for a new action plan on low carbon and energy efficiency. It highlights the fact that many of the relevant policies and funding available to meet carbon reduction targets post 2020 are due to run out very soon.
Following the publication of the CCC report, the Sustainable Energy Association together with other leading industry organisations have restated the need for a new Energy White paper; one that is founded on a proper and fair cost-benefit assessment of all the available measures and one that prioritises those that are most effective. They also advocate the need for need for an integrated approach. They are urging the Government to move quickly to produce a new Energy White paper that sets out a strategic vision that will meet our energy efficiency and carbon reduction targets.
