And the M&S Energy Community Energy Fund winners 2015 are....

This year’s M&S Energy Community Energy Fund received over 600 registrations of interest and 246 projects were submitted. These were shortlisted to 132 projects which then went to a public vote. Over 51,000 votes were cast and the winners have now been announced.
They include projects from Penzance to Anglesey and right up to Stornoway and encompass many Photovoltaic projects but also Heat Pumps and Biomass. The community groups range from those focussed on schools, to outdoor swimming pools, allotment sites and Buddhist centres. There are Scouts and Guides, village halls and rugby clubs. You can still see the projects by logging on to mandsenergyfund.com.
As well as the regional winners there were some additional choices made by the judges. These were projects which the judges selected as truly reflective of M&S core values. These include solar PV for a hydrotherapy pool, Biomass heating for a church and a renewable energy roadshow amongst others. There isn’t much funding around for Community Energy these days, so YouGen is really pleased that these projects have received the support and funding from M&S. And what’s more they are already asking for interest in the fund for next year.
So, if you have a community project idea and want to make it a reality why not express your interest in this funding and then search the rest of the site for ideas about how to set up your own Community Led project. As a starting point, see the ACE community projects support tool for more ideas.
