Adrian Wright

Adrian Wright has been involved in the energy efficiency industry for more than 20 years. He started carrying out home insulation surveys and providing energy advice across London and the East of England under the Home Energy Efficiency Scheme, the predecessor to Warmfront. During this time he surveyed many thousands of social housing properties in some of the most deprived areas of London, givig him an excellent grounding in the issues of fuel poverty.

In March 1996 Adrian founded Enact Energy as a firm of consultants specialising in home energy audits and energy efficiency. Through partnerships with local authorities, Enact developed one of Britain’s largest home insulation grant schemes, the “Heat Project”, which covered over 100 local authority areas and more than half of all homes in Britain. Other projects included a two year study into the benefits of whole house mechanical ventilation in homes where children suffer from Asthma funded by the Government’s Health Action Zone and in 2002 one of the UK’s largest (at that time) building integrated PV systems on the North Devon District Council Civic Centre funded by the DTI.

More recently Adrian was responsible for bringing energy efficiency and renewables to the high street, securing contracts to manage the home efficiency services for Tesco and Marks & Spencer which launched in 2008 and 2010 respectively. Also in 2008 Adrian moved with his family to Sydney for 10 months to establish Enact Energy Australia which quickly became one of the largest providers of energy efficiency and water conservation measures under the state based energy retailer carbon reduction targets. Adrian now acts as a consultant to Enact Energy and provides articles and comment on YouGen on an independent consultant basis with expert knowledge in energy efficiency, solar PV and Green deal.
