Linn Rafferty is a freelance consultant, accredited Domestic Energy Assessor (DEA) and qualified NHER Authorised SAP Assessor. She is one of two partners who together run JTec Energy and Automation, which provides technical consultancy in two themes: home energy efficiency, and industrial automation.She has worked in energy efficiency since 1996, with emphasis on the energy performance of buildings. In particular, she is interested in how the people who live in those buildings use them – being wise or foolish users of energy!

For a DEA, many of whom have quite recently joined the industry, Linn has an unusual background. An energy assessor since 1996, working for the organisation that invented energy audits way back in the 1980s, she has been inspecting homes for their energy efficiency for over a decade.

As a respected expert in this area, she managed the industry team that developed the method now used by all DEAs to produce Energy Performance Certificates for existing homes.



As well as providing consultancy, Linn still works locally as a DEA.
