We had a Smart Meter fitted last July and solar panels in October. The meter shows both imported and exported units but Eon tell me that it is not accurate enough to enable them to pay me for actual units exported yet the said meter carries a C.E. symbol - the consumers' reassurance of quality!
They also say that it may take up to 45 days to pay me for my first FIT payment. I suspect that they find dragging their feet to be more profitable than customer satisfaction.
I am a retired Electrical Engineer with a long-standing interest in energy conservation. (I'm on my third condensing boiler since 1990). I now like to play at being an engineer and am up for experiments of any sort. My greenhouse is watered by an automatic system fed by harvested rainwater when I am on holidays.
Presently I am trying to devise a system to ensure that we use at least 50% of the solar power that we generate.
