DIY solar thermal using Evacuated tubes and stratified input to existing cylinder. Very cheap to install (£800) and works excellently.
Cavity wall insulation not as good as expected so supplemented by internal insulation and airtightness improvements, which appear to be working well, despite not being finished yet.
Woodburner and liner installed (DIY).
Extension built to high insulation standards (~0.1U walls, floor and roof). 1.0U 3G, plenty of thermal mass. Super-insulated garage door. Retrofit insulation in garage.
U=1.4 Front door
2.9kW PV installed right at start of FIT scheme.

DIY solar thermal is excellent value.
Airtightness is just as important as insulation.
