Buyer Beware: RHI and news from YouGen February 2011
Posted on 28 February 2011 at 10:47 am
Less than a year after it was introduced, the government has announced a review of the feed-in tariff, throwing the growing wind and solar industries into uncertainty. The good news for home owners who are thinking of investing in solar electricity or a small wind turbine is that it’s not likely to affect you. Feed-in tariff rates for most domestic installations are expected to stay the same until April 2012.
However, it’s not such a rosy picture for community installations
as the government has classified installations abover 50kW as ‘large
scale’ which means that lots of community-based projects don’t know
where they stand – which is no good when you need outside investment to
get it off the ground.
It¹s a bizarre conundrum: Chris Huhne comes
over as a great advocate of renewable energy (click the link to see
what he said at the repowering of Good Energy's wind farm), yet his department¹s actions leave industry and consumers in an ongoing state of limbo!

@ataylor Electricity prices are increasing way faster than inflation. Have you factored that into the sums too? 3 hours ago
