YouGen press release

New free widget for community energy groups

Posted on 17 October 2011 at 3:12 pm

YouGen has launched a new free widget that enables community energy groups, low carbon groups and transition towns to search their supplier directory from their own website for local installers of renewable energy and use the feedback left by previous customers to help them judge who suits them best.

“Having spoken to various community energy groups, I quickly realised that some are concerned about the legal implications of recommending installers. YouGen search widget lets their members find local companies with customer recommendations.” commented Cathy Debenham, founder of YouGen.

The basic widget is free to community groups, and users can choose to search local or nationally for a recommended renewable energy installer. An example of the widget can be viewed in the community section on the YouGen website. Community groups can even choose the colour and size that best fits their website design.

A more sophisticated version is also available at a small charge which displays the results within their own website. It can be seen working on Oxford University's Climate Xchange website.

Community energy groups, low carbon groups and transition towns interested in the new widget can call 0845 450 9418 or email to find out more.
